“YOUR HANDS ARE DIRTIER THAN YOU THINK”
MESSAGE
Due to recent events with our Covid-19 Pandemic there’s been a slight controversy on doing our part as citizens by staying home (or social distancing). This video takes this simple concept of washing your hands and staying in to an unexpected (dirty) level which both entertains and informs us on the importance of how “our hands are dirtier than we think” and how we should all come together and “do our part”.
4 FINGERS
This was my first attempt at seriously trying to model and rig a hand asset for a project that was inevitably cancelled by the Covid-19 pandemic. When I realized what I wanted to do with the hand, which was to have them represent 2 arms and 2 legs, I decided on modelling the hand with 4 fingers just to get rid of that 5th redundant phalange. This both made modelling/rigging/and animating a lot simpler as well as giving the piece a stylistic look.
Lesson is : "if you can make your life easier, and it makes sense to the project, do it.”
Positioning
The direction I was taking this PSA seemed to be colourful, fun and sex positive, while also jabbing at the taboo culture who’d call these actions “dirty”. The “crazier” the sexaul acts, the bigger the message of “dirty” came across. Hence the fun little 4 way cuckold party at 11 seconds in. Was pleasantly surprised that Vimeo Staff Pick’s chose to badge a video with such raunchy content.
